In the run up to our 2026 Scientific Meeting in Dubai, ISH members reflect on what they gained by attending the last meeting held in Cartagena, Colombia. In this blog, we hear from Teemu Niiranen (Finland).

The ISH in collaboration with the Hypertension Core Group of IAPEN India Association of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition organised a special webinar series to mark World Heart Day on 29th September 2025.

Under the theme ‘Healthy Weight, Ideal Blood Pressure,’ China commemorated its 28th National Hypertension Day on 8th October 2025. This year's focus underscores the critical link between weight management and effective hypertension control, aiming to drive public action towards achieving optimal cardiovascular health.

The 22nd International Scientific Sessions of the Inter-American Society of Hypertension (IASH) take place from 15 to 17 January 2026 in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Abstract submission is open until 31 October 2025.

The ISH was very sad to learn of the death of Professor Graham MacGregor, an outstanding physician, hypertension researcher and tenacious public health advocate based in the UK.

The ISH was pleased to have a significant presence at the 2025 conference of the Nigeria Cardiac Society (NCS) and Pan-African Society of Cardiology (PASCAR) from 17-19 September. At the conference, in Abuja, Nigeria, ISH representatives including Africa Regional Advisory Group (RAG) Chair Alfred Doku (Ghana) presented an update on the development of new unified hypertension guidelines for hypertension in Africa.

Attending ISH2024 in Cartagena was more than just participating in a scientific conference, it was an intense experience of meaningful engagement, collaboration, and personal mission. The event was especially busy for me, as I wore many hats: guest speaker, discussion leader, jury member for oral presentations, and awardee. Each role offered a unique perspective and deepened my connection to the global hypertension research community.
