To coincide with the Go Red for Women campaign from the American Heart Association, marked on 6 February, Azra Mahmud, Chair of the ISH South and Central Asia Regional Advisory Group, reflects on the importance of redesigning hypertension care for women.
The ISH was part of Inter-American Society of Hypertension (IASH) Scientific Sessions in Guatemala City from 15–17 January 2026. The ISH was represented by Council Members Debora Colombari (Brazil), Dagnovar Aristizabal (Colombia), and César Romero (Argentina), as well as David David (Colombia) from the New Investigator Committee and Fabio Parada (Guatemala).
A recent ISH webinar brought together three leading researchers in hypertension - Muscha Steckelings (Denmark/Germany), Dinesh Neupane (USA/Nepal), and Nguelefack-Mbuyo Pami Elvine (Cameroon) - to explore how each of them found their scientific niche.
The session for ISH members on Monday 2 February, 20:00 to 21:00 (UK time), is designed to support early- and mid-career researchers in developing effective and rewarding mentoring relationships.

We invite national societies of hypertension and cardiac societies, or scientists and research groups with a strong background in the field of hypertension, to bid to host the ISH 2027 Meeting. In the first instance, we are looking to receive expressions of interest by 9th January 2026. We will need to receive final bids by 29th January 2026.

Starting from 2026, the ISH will hold a Scientific Meeting every year, following a recent, important decision by the ISH Council designed to accelerate scientific progress in the field of hypertension.
Congratulations to the Croatian Hypertension League (CHL), the Croatian Society for Hypertension, and the Croatian Atherosclerosis Society on a successful congress this month on pre-hypertension, hypertension, atherosclerosis and cardio-kidney-neuro-metabolic health.
The ISH was pleased to be part of the Chinese Hypertension Meeting (CHM) 2025 held in the city of Chengdu from 31 October to 2 November 2025. This year’s meeting gathered over 2,000 participants across nine halls and nearly one hundred scientific sessions.
