The ISH was pleased to have a significant presence at the 2025 conference of the Nigeria Cardiac Society (NCS) and Pan-African Society of Cardiology (PASCAR) from 17-19 September. At the conference, in Abuja, Nigeria, ISH representatives including Africa Regional Advisory Group (RAG) Chair Alfred Doku (Ghana) presented an update on the development of new unified hypertension guidelines for hypertension in Africa.

Attending ISH2024 in Cartagena was more than just participating in a scientific conference, it was an intense experience of meaningful engagement, collaboration, and personal mission. The event was especially busy for me, as I wore many hats: guest speaker, discussion leader, jury member for oral presentations, and awardee. Each role offered a unique perspective and deepened my connection to the global hypertension research community.

Every 2 years, the International Society of Hypertension provides an opportunity for scientists and physicians from all over the world to be part of a very important conference. In September 2024, the conference of the International Society of Hypertension was held in Colombia.

The ISH is proud to have supported a one-day symposium, entitled ‘Bridging the Generations in Science’, held at the University of Buenos Aires on 17th July 2025, which specifically targeted early career researchers. With 120 participants, the symposium was a big success.

Council members Dagnovar Aristizabal (Colombia), Débora Colombari (Brazil) and Muscha Steckelings (Denmark) were an active part of the Brazilian Society of Hypertension (SBH) meeting which took place from 23rd to 25th July in Rio de Janeiro.

ISH member Arinola Akinnibosun is one of two early career investigators to have been awarded an ISH Collaboration Exchange Scholarship earlier this year. The scholarships, each worth USD 5,000, were awarded to support the development of international collaborations which began at the 2024 ISH Scientific Meeting. For the scholarship, Arinola was hosted from 2 nd to 27 th June 2025 by Ruan Kruger, based at the Hypertension in Africa Research Team (HART), North-West University, Potchefstroom, South Africa.
