Council members Dagnovar Aristizabal (Colombia), Débora Colombari (Brazil) and Muscha Steckelings (Denmark) were an active part of the Brazilian Society of Hypertension (SBH) meeting which took place from 23rd to 25th July in Rio de Janeiro.
ISH member Arinola Akinnibosun is one of two early career investigators to have been awarded an ISH Collaboration Exchange Scholarship earlier this year. The scholarships, each worth USD 5,000, were awarded to support the development of international collaborations which began at the 2024 ISH Scientific Meeting. For the scholarship, Arinola was hosted from 2 nd to 27 th June 2025 by Ruan Kruger, based at the Hypertension in Africa Research Team (HART), North-West University, Potchefstroom, South Africa.
Yan Li, ISH Council member and Chair of the ISH Women in Hypertension Research Committee, reports back on the Pulse of Asia Conference 2025, which ISH representatives were part of. Yan led the organising committee for the POA conference.
A joint summer school from the China Hypertension League (CHL), the European Society of Hypertension (ESH) and the International Society of Hypertension (ISH), concluded successfully in the city of Xining this month.
The Sri Lanka Hypertension Society (SLHS) - an affiliated society of the ISH – held a successful annual scientific meeting in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, last month.
The ISH is saddened to learn of the death of our former Council member and Treasurer Professor Masatsugu Horiuchi. Professor Horiuchi was a leading figure in basic hypertension research, and known for his work on the renin-angiotensin system.
The ISH is proud to be one of the partners organising a one-day symposium aimed at early career researchers in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 17 July. The event, Bridging the Generations in Science, aims to share some of the latest discoveries in cardiovascular research, and nurture the next generation of investigators.
Several ISH representatives were in attendance at the ESH Meeting in Milan at the end of this month. Attendees including ISH President George Stergiou, Past President Bryan Williams, Secretary Kazu Kario, and Council Members Erika Jones, Muscha Steckelings and Dagnovar Aristizabal.

The International Society of Hypertension (ISH) wishes to invite proposals from individuals experienced in administering and managing projects for medical based charities, associations, universities and hospitals or related organisations and ideally those with a global remit and some experience of working with Moodle Platforms.
