Starting from 2026, the ISH will hold a Scientific Meeting every year, following a recent, important decision by the ISH Council designed to accelerate scientific progress in the field of hypertension.

Congratulations to the Croatian Hypertension League (CHL), the Croatian Society for Hypertension, and the Croatian Atherosclerosis Society on a successful congress this month on pre-hypertension, hypertension, atherosclerosis and cardio-kidney-neuro-metabolic health.

The ISH was pleased to be part of the Chinese Hypertension Meeting (CHM) 2025 held in the city of Chengdu from 31 October to 2 November 2025. This year’s meeting gathered over 2,000 participants across nine halls and nearly one hundred scientific sessions.

ISH Treasurer Cesar Romero (USA) represented the ISH at Hypertension Seoul 2025, the annual meeting of the Korean Society of Hypertension, in early November. The theme of this year meeting was “Healthy BP, Healthier Life” and it was attended for more than 800 professionals. He participated in several sessions, including one where he shared original work on the role of the kidney in Cardiovascular-Kidney-Metabolic syndrome and hypertension.

Registration is now open for the 31st International Society of Hypertension Scientific Meeting and the 17th Emirates Cardiac Society Annual Conference (ISH-ECS 2026) - taking place from 22nd to 25th October 2026.

Ruan Kruger, North-West University, Potchefstroom, South Africa Attending ISH2024 in Cartagena was a deeply rewarding experience, both professionally and personally. As a research scientist committed to advancing cardiovascular health, I was drawn to the conference’s diverse and forward-looking scientific programme, particularly sessions on hypertension in low-resource settings and innovations in early detection, which closely align with my current research focus.

The transition to an independent scientific career—securing funding, defining a novel research identity, and moving beyond your mentor's work—is the critical challenge for early-mid career researchers. The path to a sustainable and fundable niche can often seem unclear.

Congratulations to the Croatian Hypertension League (CHL) who organised a successful public health campaign on the island of Dugi Otok, Croatia, this summer, which screened members of the public for high blood pressure and other cardio-kidney-metabolic risk factors.

A webinar from the ISH and the Colombian Society of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery (SCCCV) focused on how to translate the recommendations of the latest American Heart Association 2025 and European Society of Cardiology 2024 guidelines for hypertension into practice.

The ISH was pleased to be part of the Pakistan Hypertension League (PHL) annual conference from 19–21 September 2025 in Lahore, Pakistan. ISH activities at the PHL meeting included scientific sessions, young investigator activities, outreach booths, and membership drives.
