Vision, Mission, and Scope of the ISH SACA Regional Advisory Group (2025–2026)

The South and Central Asia (SACA) region of the International Society of Hypertension (ISH) envisions a future where hypertension is no longer the silent epidemic undermining the health and productivity of our nations. Our mission is to reduce the burden of hypertension and its complications through region- specific advocacy, education, research, and capacity building, tailored to the needs of low- and middle- income countries (LMICs).

Between 2025 and 2026, SACA–ISH will address persistent and emerging challenges in hypertension control—low awareness, limited access to validated devices, underuse of combination therapy, therapeutic inertia, and weak follow-up systems. We aim to bridge gaps between evidence and practice by empowering healthcare professionals, engaging policymakers, and mobilizing communities.

Our scope includes:

Educational outreach: Delivering tailored online and in-person hypertension courses for physicians, nurses, and community workers.

Research advocacy: Supporting local data generation, registries, and implementation research to influence regional guidelines and funding priorities.

Youth engagement: Cultivating the next generation of hypertension leaders through fellowships, mentorships, and scientific exchange.

Strategic partnerships: Collaborating with regional societies, ministries of health, and global health partners to align hypertension control with universal health coverage.

Public awareness campaigns: Marking global observances like World Hypertension Day with regionally adapted materials in local languages.

Through these efforts, we aim to transform SACA from a high-burden, low-control region to a model of innovation and equity in hypertension care. The SACA–ISH Regional Advisory Group is committed to working collectively, inclusively, and sustainably toward “Better Blood Pressure for All.”
