23 June 2025: The Sri Lanka Hypertension Society (SLHS) - an affiliated society of the ISH –held a successful annual scientific meeting in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, last month.
The congress featured a diverse programme featuring renowned speakers from overseas and from Sri Lanka. Neil Poulter, ISH President from 2016 to 2018, spoke about the changing landscape of hypertension in the world, and what steps can be taken to mitigate the epidemic. Rifdy Mohideen, of the University of Ruhuna, spoke about hypertension in Sri Lankans and the challenges associated with its management in a local context.

The sessions included a quiz that attracted both postgraduate and medical students.
The Congress served as a platform for networking and knowledge exchange among healthcare professionals from all over the country and the region. The SLHS hopes to carry out collaborative efforts to combat Hypertension in the region in the years to come.
