A message from the President-Elect of the International Society of Hypertension
In September 2024, I will take on the role of ISH President. I am looking forward to working closely with the ISH Council and our committee members to further expand the activities and impact of the ISH at a global level.
At ISH we have several active committees and boards, a lot of big ongoing projects, and plans for initiating new exciting ones. I want to encourage members and friends within our ISH community to get actively involved in the work of the ISH. There are several opportunities to volunteer in a range of roles and committees – all listed below.
I want to hear from members and friends who are willing to commit time and energy to these roles.

If you are not yet a member of the ISH, and want to get involved, first apply for ISH membership and then submit an expression of interest form.
Appointments to ISH committees and groups will be made after the 2024 ISH Scientific Meeting in Cartagena, Colombia (19-22 September)

Join your ISH Regional Advisory Group (RAG)
Connect with members in your ISH region and help to take forward the work of the RAGs. We have RAGs in the following regions:
- Africa
- Americas
- Asia Pacific
- Europe
- Middle East and North Africa
- South and Central Asia

Become an ISH content contributor
Let us know what is happening in the field of hypertension in your home country and region, so that we can highlight this activity in ISH communications including our monthly e-bulletin and website. Activity includes conferences, blood pressure initiatives, and academic papers.
Event co-ordinators
Help the ISH run online webinars, seminars and podcasts which bring our members together and offer the chance for the sharing of knowledge and expertise.
Join the New Investigator Committee (NIC)
Help shape the ISH platform for interaction between new investigators which enables new avenues of communication and collaboration between them.
Join the Women in Hypertension Research Committee (WiHRC)
Help develop the ISH network to encourage, support and inspire women in science and medicine in hypertension and related cardiovascular diseases.
Join the Mentorship and Training Committee (MTC)
Help shape the ISH mentorship scheme and the training we offer our members.
Become an ISH mentor
Commit to mentoring one or more ISH members by meeting with them virtually a few times a year.
Join the Membership Committee
The ISH is currently in a period of membership growth. Join our Membership Committee and help shape the benefits we offer our members, and help us review new member applications.
