OBJECTIVES:

Establish contact with national hypertension societies across Europe

This objective has nearly been achieved, with 90% of national societies successfully engaged by mid-2025.

Increase membership across all categories

We will focus on increasing membership numbers in the Member, Associate Member and Trainee categories.

Promote collaboration and harmonisation among national societies

We plan to foster co-operation and alignment on hypertension-related initiatives across Europe, facilitating shared knowledge and resources for broader impact.

Support innovative projects in hypertension awareness and prevention

We will seek out examples of initiatives which we believe can be scaled further across Europe, through collaboration with national societies.

Support initiatives across global regions

We will explore opportunities to work with and support other global regions where we believe we have the ability to do so.

Facilitate ongoing collaboration through regular meetings

We have started regular meetings every six weeks, to ensure continuous progress.

Europe RAG at the ESH 2025 Annual Meeting, Milan

In May 2025 the Europe Regional Advisory Group (RAG) of the International Society of Hypertension (ISH) met during the 2025 European Society of Hypertension Annual Meeting in Milan. The gathering provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen collaboration across European member countries and to highlight the RAG’s growing engagement in regional initiatives.

Discussions focused on ongoing projects, including the development of a Europe-wide hypertension mapping initiative and a survey on national policies and practices related to blood pressure management. Members also explored opportunities to increase visibility through educational activities, scientific events, and multimedia communication.

The meeting reinforced the group’s shared commitment to advancing hypertension awareness, research, and education throughout Europe, in alignment with ISH’s global mission.
