Tell us about yourself.

I am a Clinical Research Associate at the Shalamar Institute of Health Sciences, Lahore, Pakistan. I graduated with an MBBS degree from Khyber Medical College in 2023 and completed my one-year clinical internship at Khyber Teaching Hospital, Peshawar. My interest in clinical research stems from a passion for preventive medicine and improving patient outcomes through evidence-based healthcare. I enjoy collaborating with researchers and clinicians to conduct high-quality systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and clinical studies addressing important public health challenges.

What are your research interests?

My primary research interests are preventive medicine and hypertension. I am particularly interested in blood pressure measurement, nocturnal hypertension, cardiovascular risk assessment, and evidence synthesis through systematic reviews and meta-analyses. I also enjoy conducting cross-sectional studies that evaluate clinical practices and identify opportunities to improve healthcare delivery through evidence-based recommendations.

What are you working on right now?

I am currently working on two hypertension-related projects. The first is a nationwide cross- sectional study evaluating inpatient blood pressure measurement techniques across hospitals in Pakistan. The second is a systematic review and meta-analysis investigating the phenotypes of nocturnal hypertension. These projects aim to improve hypertension diagnosis and contribute evidence that can inform clinical practice and future research.

What do you hope to achieve in the field of hypertension over the next 5 years?

Over the next five years, I hope to establish myself as an independent clinical researcher in hypertension and preventive cardiovascular medicine. I aim to contribute high-quality research that improves blood pressure measurement practices, advances understanding of hypertension phenotypes, and informs clinical guidelines. I also hope to collaborate internationally and mentor young researchers interested in evidence-based medicine.

What challenges have you faced in your career to date?.

As an early-career researcher, one of my greatest challenges has been building research capacity while transitioning from clinical training to academic research. Limited resources and opportunities for young investigators have required persistence and continuous learning.
These challenges have strengthened my skills in research methodology, collaboration, and scientific writing, and have reinforced my commitment to producing meaningful, high-quality research.

Which of your publications are you proudest of and why?

I wrote this article early in my research career. It provided me with the opportunity to collaborate with researchers from other institutions and served as a gateway to my interest in cardiovascular medicine.

What are your passions outside of work?

Outside of research, I enjoy traveling, cooking, and exploring different cultures. I also enjoy teaching research methodology and mentoring students who are interested in clinical research and evidence-based medicine. These activities help me maintain a balanced perspective while continuing to grow both personally and professionally.
