14 Aug 2025: ISH member Nicolas Renna, who is based in Argentina, shares his experience of attending our 2024 Scientific Meeting in Colombia - and why he’ll be attending our 2026 Meeting in Dubai.
Attending ISH2024 in Cartagena was an easy decision for me. As a cardiologist and researcher focused on hypertension, the ISH Scientific Meeting is one of the few events where I can find, in the same place, the latest advances in basic science, clinical research, and global health policy.
The scientific programme was truly outstanding. I had the opportunity to listen to world leaders present cutting-edge data, join lively debates about the future of hypertension management, and discover new approaches that I could apply in my own research back in Argentina. I was also honoured to present part of my work and receive valuable feedback from experts in the field.
Equally important was the human side of the meeting. ISH2024 gave me the chance to reconnect with friends and colleagues from around the world, as well as to meet new collaborators. Those informal conversations over coffee often spark ideas that no formal session can match.
And of course, Cartagena itself was part of the motivation. It was my first time visiting Colombia, and the combination of history, culture, and warm hospitality made the experience unforgettable. From walking through the colourful streets of the old town to enjoying the local food, every moment outside the conference hall added value to the trip.
In short, ISH2024 was not just a scientific meeting - it was a unique experience that blended knowledge, collaboration, and cultural discovery. That’s why I attended, and why I will certainly be in Dubai in 2026.
