Successful Hypertension Camp held in Thailand

23 March 2025: An ISH-endorsed initiative to improve hypertension care in Thailand was successfully held in Bangkok this month.

The Hypertension Camp from the Thai Hypertension Society (THS) helps equip healthcare workers to become champions in hypertension care in the hospitals where they work.

It is the third time the Camp has been held.

The initiative is sponsored by Abbott via an educational grant. It is a forum for the sharing of best practice in hypertension care among GPs and internal medicine doctors in Thailand.

The next Hypertension Camp will be held in Bangkok in August 2025.

Professor Apichard Sukonthasarn, President of the Thai Society of Hypertension, said:

“The Thai Hypertension Society (THS), together with the International Society of Hypertension (ISH), successfully organised the Third Hypertension Camp in Thailand. The whole-day meeting included presentations from physicians from various parts of the country. Subjects of discussion have ranged from blood pressure measurement, medications, lifestyle, environmental factors, renal denervation, and even hypertension in populations with low socioeconomic status.

“The past and present Hypertension Camp in Thailand is supported by Abbott and helps THS to develop a network of physicians, pharmacists, and nurses all over the country. The next Hypertension Camp is planned for August 2025, and we are looking forward to even greater success and cooperation.”
