One day symposium in Argentina to nurture the next generation of scientists
in cardiovascular research

13 June 2025: The ISH is proud to be one of the partners organising a one-day symposium aimed at early career researchers in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 17 July.

The event, Bridging the Generations in Science, aims to share some of the latest discoveries in cardiovascular research, and nurture the next generation of investigators. 

It is a joint symposium of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry at the University of Buenos Aires, the Argentine Society of Hypertension, and the ISH.

ISH members can register for the in-person event until 30 June.

Scientific sessions include:

  • New drugs targeting the RAAS
  • Discovering a new target for fibrotic diseases
  •  Biological actions and (unexpected) receptor interactions of angiotensin-(1-5) - a new hormone within the RAAS

Workshop sessions include:

  • How to build a career in science
  • How to tailor a mentorship plan to your needs
  • How to transition from being a student to a supervisor
  • Establishing successful research collaborations
  •  Advantages and disadvantages of a career in science as a woman

The ISH will be sponsoring awards for best oral and poster presentation at the symposium which are open to trainees, post-docs and junior faculty.

ISH Council member Muscha Steckelings has been part of the organising committee for the symposium, and ISH involvement is through the ISH Americas Regional Advisory Group chaired by Dagnovar Aristizabal.
