18 Aug 2025: Every 2 years, the International Society of Hypertension provides an opportunity for scientists and physicians from all over the world to be part of a very important conference. In September 2024, the conference of the International Society of Hypertension was held in Colombia.
Why was my participation in this conference really important for me?
First of all, for me as a scientist, it was a great opportunity to present the results of my research. In my opinion, such scientific conferences (especially when thousands of scientists from different countries take part in them) allow researchers to reveal their potential and receive the latest information in the area of interest first-hand. It was a real pleasure to communicate personally with leading scientists in hypertension and get new and interesting ideas from them!
In addition, during my participation in the ISH 2024, I received an invitation from the organizing committee of the International Society of Hypertension to present the results of our international project, in which we studied the associations of war-induced stress and arterial hypertension in Ukrainian refugee women in Poland. Thanks to this invitation, information about our project was published on the pages of the main digest of the ISH – Hypertension News. This allowed us to draw attention of a wide range of readers not only to the scientific aspects of the research, but also to the social problem of stress and its consequences for the cardiovascular system in war refugees.
Participation in ISH2024 was also an excellent opportunity to meet colleagues from other countries, who over the years of participating in such events have become truly close people to me.
Of course, we should not forget about the impressions that the country of Colombia itself gave us! It was very interesting to see the beauty of Cartagena and useful from the educational prospective to immerse myself in the culture of another country (different from the European one). It was an unforgettable experience!
I am looking forward to the next meeting with colleagues at the conferences in Gdansk [for the European Society of Hypertension] and Dubai in 2026!
