17 June 2025: The ISH is saddened to learn of the death of our former Council member and Treasurer Professor Masatsugu Horiuchi.

Professor Horiuchi was a leading figure in basic hypertension research, and known for his work on the renin-angiotensin system.

He served on the ISH Council from 2014 to 2018, and as Treasurer from 2016 to 2018. He also served as President of the Japanese Society of Hypertension (JSH).

Thanks to his contributions, the ISH Scientific Meeting in 2022 was successfully hosted by the JSH in Kyoto, Japan.

We would like to express our sincere condolences to Professor Horiuchi’s family, colleagues, and all who knew him.
