World Kidney Day (WKD)
is the global awareness campaign aimed at raising awareness of the importance of our kidneys. Celebrated every year on the second Thursday of March, World Kidney Day is the biggest event focused on awarenessprevention and healthy lifestyle to promote kidney health around the world.

With this year’s theme “Kidney Disease & Obesity – Healthy Lifestyle for Healthy Kidneys”, the campaign encourages education about the harmful consequences of obesity and its association with kidney disease and advocates healthy lifestyle and health policy measures that make preventive behaviors an affordable option.

A Joint Position Statement developed by World Kidney Day and the World Obesity Federation on the linkages of obesity and kidney disease, can be viewed and downloaded here.
