  • ISH Funding for Mentors and Organisations to Train Research Scholars in Hypertension: DEADLINE 27 JULY 2016

    There is a critical need to establish and support high quality training programs within low/middle income countries that can enhance the early careers of researchers in the basic science, clinical and public health areas of hypertension. To help meet this need the Society is offering awards to mentors in these countries who have the expertise and resources to offer fellowship training in hypertension disciplines to young investigators.

  • SHORT HISTORY OF THE INDONESIAN WOMEN OF CARDIOLOGY

    The idea to form a female cardiology club in Indonesia was initially brought forward by our senior female cardiologists; Prof Lily Rilantono, Prof Ganesja Harimurti, Dr Ann Soenarta and Dr Anna Ulfa Rahajoe. But not until 2010 that a chat group was formed, exclusively for Indonesian female cardiologists to get to know each other, expand their networks and generally to discuss anything concerning women's cardiovascular health in general. In this group members also could share and help each other navigating the unique challenges of being a minority in the cardiology field. At that time the number of female cardiologists in Indonesia was still very few.

    World Hypertension Day (WHD) is an annual initiative of the World Hypertension League (WHL), an affiliated section of the ISH. The theme of WHD 2016 is “know your numbers” with the goal of increasing high blood pressure awareness in all populations around the world. The WHD 2016 challenge is to screen three million adults. We encourage you to contribute data between 17-24 May to help us reach this goal!

  • The CRADLE Vital Signs Alert

    The primary aim of the CRADLE project was to develop a device capable of accurately detecting abnormalities in vital signs - including blood pressure (BP) and heart rate (HR) - that was also suitable for introduction into LMICs. We then extended this aim to prospectively evaluate the device’s ability to reduce maternal mortality and morbidity by increasing timely referral and initiation of interventions.

  • The Franz Volhard of the International Society of Hypertension by Stephen Harrap

    There can be few greater honours than to have the peak international society of professional peers dedicate their premier award in one's name. Franz Volhard was posthumously recognized in this way with the first Franz Volhard Award of the International Society of Hypertension in 1972 to commemorate the centenary of his birth.
