XVI Latin America Congress and V Central and Caribbean Congress of Hypertension and Cardiovascular Risk Factors
The Joint Congress of the Latin American Society of Hypertension (LASH) and the Central American and Caribbean Society of Hypertension (SCCH) took place from 24-27th October 2018 in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia. This was indeed an exciting meeting with an excellent faculty of renowned hypertension specialists. More importantly, this was the first time the LASH-SCCH introduced a young investigators session in their programme.
Investigators from around the world were honoured at the ISH Awards Ceremony and Lectures session during the 27th Scientific Meeting (Hypertension Beijing 2018), which was held in Beijing, China from 20th to 23rd September 2018.

Thank you all of you who have supported May Measurement Month (MMM) 2018, a global public blood pressure screening programme led by the International Society of Hypertension (ISH) and endorsed by the World Hypertension League. With the generous support of numerous organisations including national hypertension and cardiac societies, thousands of volunteers from around the world came together for the second time to raise awareness of the issues surrounding raised blood pressure during MMM18.

Alta Schutte is Professor of Physiology, and funded by the South African Department of Science and Technology as the Research Chair (SARChI) in the Early Detection and Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease in South Africa – hosted by the Hypertension in Africa Research Team (HART) at the North-West University. She is also the Unit Director of Medical Research Council Extramural Unit for Hypertension and Cardiovascular Disease.
