To promote World Hypertension Day and to highlight the importance of hypertension as a major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases in our society, the Institute for Cardiovascular and Medical Sciences, University of Glasgow and the Blood Pressure Unit at the Western Infirmary, will host a morning symposium (10.00-13.00) at the Wolfson Medical School, University of Glasgow on the 17th May 2013.

As the president of the Working Group on Arterial Hypertension – Bosnia and Herzegovina, I was initiator of a few manifestations in some towns of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the occasion of World Health Day – April 7th, which is dedicated to hypertension. Colleagues from Sarajevo and Mostar were very active during World Health Day.

The Argentine Society of Hypertension held its 20th Congress in the city of Rosario from 18th to 20th April under the slogan "Hypertension: beyond the numbers, a global vision". The Organizing Committee was chaired by Dr. Diego Nannini, while the Scientific Committee was led by Dr. Fernando Filippini. Sincere thanks to these committee members for giving the ISH the opportunity, via Dr. Cesar Romero, to promote the New Investigator Network in their region.

To assist the WHL achieve its mandate, a senior administrative position is required to assist in the development and implementation of a strategic plan, developing partnerships and coordinating activities with other organizations, and in particular fund raising to increase the capacity of the World Hypertension League to achieve its mandate.
