We are delighted to share with you this bumper issue of ISH Hypertension News.
In September, more than 3500 delegates met at the ISH Scientific Meeting to discuss high blood pressure, its risks, and prevention during almost a week, where we received a very warm welcome and fantastic hospitality by Professors Kim, Kim, and Kim and their many co-workers. I invite you to read the new investigators’ reports from the meeting on pages 22-26.
This year, ISH celebrated its 50th anniversary and it was time for our Society to change President and part of the Scientific Council. Neil Poulter (London, UK) took over from Touyz (Glasgow, UK) as President and you will find their addresses on pages 3-4 and 6, respectively. The Council members (elected for 2016-20) are additionally presented on page 5, with their fields of interest.
Further fantastic newsletter contributions are detailed below.

I have been a member of the International Society of Hypertension (ISH) since 2013. Soon after my enrolment in ISH I joined the New Investigator Network and, sometime later, its Mentorship initiative.
Welcome to the ISH Mentorship Scheme story corner. Here we would like to update members on the progress of the scheme and provide stories of how new investigator members of our community are benefiting from the guidance, support, and importantly friendship of the more experienced members of the ISH. I hope you enjoy these stories and a huge thank you to all contributors to the scheme, especially mentors and mentees.
The ISH New Investigator Network recently created a platform on LinkedIn for young professionals in hypertension research to connect, find researchers in similar fields of interest and to establish exciting new collaborations and research ideas.
