The ISH New Investigator Spotlight was created in 2011 with the backing and support of the 1st New Investigator Committee (NIC) Chair, Professor Bo Carlberg and ISH President 2010-2012 - Professor Stephen Harrap, with the mission of providing new scientists an opportunity to display their personal and professional qualities for greater visibility on ISH’s revamped website.
Celebrate World Hypertension Day (WHD) on 17 May and contribute to improving awareness of Hypertension. For the five-year period 2013-2018, the theme of WHD will be ‘Know Your Numbers’ with the goal of increasing high blood pressure awareness in all populations around the world.
It is almost 6 months since I assumed the Presidency of ISH and I am delighted to update you on the many activities that have taken place during this time. In the last newsletter you received my vision and goals for ISH. I would now like to share with you how these goals are being addressed and how we are progressing the vision of the Society.
The December 2014 issue of ISH Hypertension News is now available. Contributions include a report from the ISH President, Rhian Touyz, informing us about her first half year in office, updates from the New Investigator Committee and much more.
The 5th ISH New Investigator Symposium on Hypertension and Cardiovascular Disease was held in collaboration with the American Heart Association Hypertension Council in advance of their 2014 Scientific Sessions. Organized exclusively by members of the ISH New Investigator Network the half day symposium featured 14 oral presentations and over 60 posters from the best young scientists in the field of hypertension.
The ISH New Investigator Network recently created a platform on LinkedIn for young professionals in hypertension research to connect, find researchers in similar fields of interest and to establish exciting new collaborations and research ideas.
ISH New Investigator Committee (NIC) members were delighted to welcome senior ISH Faculty and rising stars of international hypertension research during the recent cocktail party at the Divani Hotel, Athens. Guests enjoyed food and the spectacular views of Athens during the launch of the new Mentorship Scheme and NIC logo.
