Glasgow (UK) World Hypertension Day update
Posted on 26/05/2013
To promote World Hypertension Day and to highlight the importance of hypertension as a major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases in our society, the Institute for Cardiovascular and Medical Sciences, University of Glasgow and the Blood Pressure Unit at the Western Infirmary in Glasgow hosted a morning symposium (10.00-13.00) at the Wolfson Medical School, University of Glasgow on the 17th May 2013.
Informative sessions on blood pressure and cardiovascular risk were presented by experts from Glasgow, Aberdeen and Dundee. Around 100 participants attended the lectures and had their blood pressure, cholesterol and heart rhythm checked on the day with results and appropriate advice offered. The British Hypertension Society represented by Jackie Howarth provided information leaflets and advice to the participants.
