Hypertension in Africa Research Team (HART) - World Hypertension Day video
This initiative was in conjunction with the Center of Excellence of Nutrition and the South African National Blood Service. This event was inspired by the New Investigators Network and supported by the Institutional office of the North-West University. HART is inspired to promote awareness of hypertension and contribute to international collaborative research to understand and potentially control the onset and development of hypertension, especially in African populations from South Africa.

Awards have included the ISH Jiří Widimský Snr. Award which has been presented at ISH meetings to up to three distinguished, young investigators from countries suffering economic hardship. Dr. Zicha (Institute of Physiology AS CR, Prague, Czech Republic and an ISH-ESH 2002 Prague Organising Committee member) gives and overview of these awards.
