Established in 1966, the International Society of Hypertension (ISH) is committed to promoting and encouraging the advancement of scientific research and knowledge and its application to the prevention and management of heart disease and stroke in hypertension and related cardiovascular diseases around the world.
The Society was registered as a charity in England and Wales in December 2007.
The Society is proud to have an active membership of over 1,000 from nearly 80 countries. Our members include trainees, junior and established scientists, clinicians, health care providers and allied health care workers, all with a common interest in hypertension research. The character of the Society reflects that of its members and prides itself in the youthful and international strengths of the membership.
We invite you to become part of this international community of experts on high blood pressure and to receive timely and comprehensive information about the latest events and discoveries so that you can keep at the forefront of hypertension research. Members joining from resource poor countries, zones and territories, as listed by the Health InterNetwork Access to Research Initiative (HINARI) Programme, are eligible to free online access of the Journal of Hypertension. As a member you will:
- Become a part of the World's Premier Blood Pressure Society
- Save on conference registrations for our biennial scientific meetings
- Receive the Journal of Hypertension (12 issues per year)
- Have access to contact details for other ISH members to develop your personal network
- Receive regular news and updates via the Society's electronic newsletter (Hypertension News)
- Be eligible for ISH Awards and to join our Mentorship Scheme (as a mentor or mentee)
The two key aspirations of the International Society of Hypertension are to support our younger members and reach out to as many countries globally as possible.
Our New Investigator Network links the best and brightest from around the world and provides a means to interact with and support the next generations of blood pressure experts.
To support of global constituents we have our Regional Advisory Groups (RAGs) which cover (1) Africa (2) Asia and Australasia (3) Central and South America (4) Eastern Europe and Middle East (5) Western Europe and North America. A strong element of the RAGs is to develop outreach education activities and align developed and developing countries. The ISH also provides direct lines of communication via our ISH International Forum comprising the national societies for blood pressure from around the world.
The ISH has much to offer no matter who you are or where you are. Any enquiry may be directed to our Secretariat.
